How To Stay Refreshed In Between Your Events During A Meet

Can't get all cramped up after your first event lol.

After an event or two you eventually realize, “Ah crap, I have at least 2 more events to do and my body is so stiff I can barely walk”. Believe me, I get that 100%. It is not a fun feeling in the least bit lol. Due to that, it’s important to figure out your own recovery system that allows you to be as refreshed as possible for your next events.

Some helpful tactics to keep in mind on how to stay recovered between your events are:

  • Limiting the amount of moving you do after your race (should be a walk and light stretching after your race but once that’s over, you should try to find a comfortable place to rest til it’s time to start moving for your next event)

  • Have snacks on hand that’ll help refuel you (keep your stomach’s digestion preferences and timely eating in mind to ensure you don’t eat too much)

  • Walk a lap and stretch after your race to help dispense the waste your body produced during your race (any race where you go 100% will cause your muscles to stiffen up, make sure that you put effort towards getting them relaxed so they’re not sore for your next race)

Some other posts that may be useful to help you feel more recovered after your races are “timely eating” and “the importance of testing other ways to cooldown”.

Main takeaway: Developing a system to ensure your recovering between your races will not only strengthened your event performances, but also go a long way in strengthening your injury prevention and your level of recovery the following day.
