The only way to really appreciate (and want to do) recoveries after your workouts is by understanding what it does for your body.
For athletes, it is crucial that they take their recovery serious so they’re body can be refreshed for the next day of practice or competition (especially for track athletes since they’re performance is heavily based off their physical status).
Now for the main topic: What does recovery do for me and why should I even care ?
Great Question, let me give you my answer: Recovery cooldowns are meant to refresh you by removing wasteful products produced by your body to ensure you complete your workout that will cause problems if not cleared afterwards along with stretching to the active muscles used during those workout so they don’t remain tight.
The mixture of produced products in your body (like lactate acid) and the tightness of your muscles will cause overall stiffness and lower your ability to perform if not properly dealt with (and we don’t want that).
By utilizing your recovery cooldown after your workouts, you’ll not only be able to clear the lactate acid you produced during your workout through stretches, but also relax the active muscles that are clearly mad at you for your awesome effort from your workout lol.
In this section we’ll go over the different types of recovery and stretching you can implement in your cooldowns to figure out what’ll work best for your body :).
Have any questions ?
Please put them down in the comments and i’ll get back to you as soon as I can.
