In this section, we’ve gone over several mindset tips that can help you clear your mind off of negative thoughts, narrow your focus, visualize your success, and how to keep a positive mindset in the event of a negative outcome.
All these tactics are important pieces in building a stronger mindset. However, like all things new skills trying to develop, practice is required to hone your skills to the best of your ability.
And what better way to practice than to apply it in your every day life. It may sound dumb, but every single tip we’ve covered in this section can applied to every other aspect of your life to strengthen your mindset on and off the track.
For example: You did bad on a math test you studied hard for.
Regular mindset: “Dang it, I suck at these tests and i’m a bad student. I just shouldn’t try so hard if i’m going to remain terrible.”
Applied mindset tip: “Dang it, I didn’t do good on my test. Well, after reviewing my test I can clearly identify what areas of my lesson I need to study more often. I bet if I talk to my teacher they’ll let me redo it if I show work ethic towards bettering on my knowledge on the areas I didn’t do well in.”
The point i’m trying to make in this post is order to develop a stronger mindset towards your athletic life, you should apply the tips and methods in your every day life in order to gain some practice in less stressful situations.
It’ll make applying those methods more natural and they’ll eventually be hardwired into how your brain things through situations (which is the end goal for this section).
